A Decision-Making Process For Responsible and Moral THINKING
We are able to teach children on the soccer field, how to use Stop, Think, Act, Review when making decisions throughout the day. Taking the time to apply this method, children are more likely to make positive life choices as they understand what moves them closer to their goals in life, and what moves them further away. Using the Pure Game system we are able to demonstrate how to take the lessons learned on the soccer field into their home, school, and neighborhood.
STOP
LEARNING THE RESPONSIBILITY AND MORAL THINKING SKILL TO:
*Stop: Give myself time to think before choosing an action or behavior
*Stop: To take time to make ethical decisions
*Stop: To realize I have positive choices
*Stop: To consider the consequences that can lead me to make better decisions
*Stop: To take time to find the positive in myself and others
THINK
LEARNING THE RESPONSIBILITY AND MORAL THINKING SKILL TO:
*Think: Through alternatives and consequences
*Think: About ethical issues such as honesty, respect, justice, integrity, generosity, kindness, courage and helpfulness
*Think: About the essentials of citizenship and positive community service and involvement
*Think: About myself as a worthy person capable of being all that I can be
*Think: With others in order to get their feedback
ACT
LEARNING THE RESPONSIBILITY AND MORAL THINKING SKILL TO:
*Act: Practice daily the I ACT or Am Choosing To behave in a particular way
*Act: To set goals and put them into action
*Act: With perseverance to reach my goals
*Act: To manage my time wisely
*Act: To maintain a positive mental attitude while acting on my goals
REVIEW
LEARNING THE RESPONSIBILITY AND MORAL THINKING SKILL TO:
*Review: My actions and ask myself the question, Did my actions get me closer to or further from my goals?
*Review: My goals and objectives and modify them when it is appropriate
*Review: My actions and reward myself for the progress I have made
*Review: My actions and accept my mistakes and choose to learn from them
