Pure Game Footy Golf Classic 2017

There aren’t too many sporting events where you can participate WHILE eating barbecue and cookies washed down with a couple of beers and a Moscow Mule and still feel good about yourself!

The lucky folks who took part in the 2017 Pure Game Footy Golf Classic were able to do just that (as long as they were over 21, of course).

Proceeds from the event on October 22 at Riverview Golf Course in Santa Ana helped raise Pure Game program sponsorships for children at three schools – Bryant, Handy and Melrose Elementary.

Footy Golf, a crazy mix of soccer and golf – is a new craze in other parts of the world and Pure Game was the first to introduce it locally. The day was such a hit it will now be an annual event.

Taking part were World Cup Champion and US National team players Joy Fawcett and Tisha Venturini.

Major sponsors included PIMCO and HOTB Software with Food/Hole Sponsors the Olde Ship, Newport Rib Company, PAU Maui Vodka, Pats Famous Barbeque, We Believe Wine, ProYo, Pressed Juicery, and Paderia Bakery.

Pure Game founder Tony Everett also had special thanks for Maggie Hart from Riverview Golf Course in Santa Ana.

“It was an awesome day,” said Tony. “Everyone who played had a terrific time and the great bonus was they helped not only to provide some schoolchildren with sponsorships for our program but they also helped raise the awareness of the great work Pure Game is doing week in and week out for at risk kids in Orange County.

“I just want to add my thanks for everyone – Maggie, the sponsors, the volunteers and staff – who made the event such a success.”

Two non-profits partnered with Pure Game to ensure the Footy Golf Classic had a maximum impact on the local community.

Acoustic for Change provided the entertainment with Corey Angeli and collected instruments to donate to local underprivileged children.

Kids Kick Back is another wonderful local non-profit. They collected unwanted soccer cleats and athletics shoes – motto ‘Changing the world one pair of shoes at a time’ – to provide to less fortunate children around the world.
