24-Hour virtual fundraiser seeks to raise $125K for Orange County’s next generation

Anaheim, Calif. (July 26,2023)Pure Game and nine aligned nonprofits will partner with the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) on July 26 for ImpACT Anaheim, a 24-hour collaborative online Giving Day aiming to raise $125,000 for organizations serving Anaheim youth through programs to help them reach their full potential. Programs to be funded include STEM education, arts, recreational and leadership development, and more. These services are crucial to help close the opportunity gaps that deepened during the pandemic and continue to persist.

The long-term impact of the pandemic on academic achievement, mental health, physical well-being and more is felt across Orange County, especially in Anaheim, with adolescents being hit particularly hard. According to a 2022 U.S. Census report, more than 80,000 youth aged 17 and under live in Anaheim, equating to nearly 24% of the city’s population.[1] According to the 28th Annual Conditions of Children in Orange County, youth in Anaheim are struggling academically compared to neighboring cities, represent the second-highest beneficiaries of public assistance, and are impacted by some of the highest substantiated child abuse rates in Orange County.

In addition to Pure Game, other participating organizations include Anaheim Ballet, Anaheim Community Foundation, Anaheim Family YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Chance Theater, Girls Inc. of Orange County, Higher Ground Youth & Family Services, Love Anaheim, and Voice of Refugees.

"Here at Pure Game, we believe in the transformative power of sports and physical activities to positively impact the lives of young individuals,” said Tony Everett, Chief Play Maker of Pure game. Our mission is to provide children with not just the opportunity to play sports, but to also learn essential life skills, build resilience, and unlock their full potential. “Through our programs, we aim to empower the youth of Anaheim to overcome challenges, discover their strengths, and thrive as confident, capable individuals. We are thrilled to join forces with the Orange County Community Foundation and our fellow nonprofits on ImpACT Anaheim Giving Day, as together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of the next generation."   “OCCF is proud to support the ImpACT Anaheim Giving Day, which will have a significant impact on the educational, health and emotional development of Anaheim youth,” said Shelley Hoss, president and CEO of the Orange County Community Foundation. “The entire Orange County community will benefit from a thriving Anaheim with ample pathways of opportunity for their youth.” Pure Game provides participants with in-school sport based program. In-school programs are designed to help students stay physically active, develop essential life skills such as enhance mental resilience, leadership, teamwork, communication, and decision-making, using soccer as a platform.
